We make no secret of the allergy risks associated with uncured UV/LED nail products. Sharing information about this is important, and we approach it with responsibility and care.
At Nailster, we take our responsibility and the risk of allergies very seriously. Since Nailster opened the doors to salon-quality nails at home in 2019, we have always been uncompromising in our commitment to transparent communication, so our customers can purchase Nailster products with peace of mind and feel well informed about product safety.
To reduce the risks associated with using “at-home kits”, we place great emphasis on clearly communicating the risk of allergic reactions from uncured products across all aspects of our communications, guides, and marketing.
That is why we at Nailster have gathered a selection of the initiatives we implement every day to inform and protect our customers – so they can feel confident throughout their nail journey.
We include allergy information at the bottom of the packing slip in every order.
We make it very clear that the product must not come into contact with the skin — this information appears on the packaging, in our guides, on enclosed leaflets, and via QR codes that link to our guide universe.
You’ll find information about ingredients and how to use each product correctly on every product page on our website.
We guide customers on how to use our products correctly through our learning hub, which has been developed in collaboration with qualified nail technicians and is updated regularly.
Our ingredients are always listed on every product page, so you know exactly what you are applying to your nails. We strive to use the gentlest acrylates available on the market without compromising on quality.
We appreciate that people continue to be mindful of how our products are used, as it gives us the opportunity to communicate openly about what our products contain.
We know that allergic reactions can occur when gel products are used at home, but with our learning hub, you’ll be guided on how to use the products safely and with confidence.
The three acrylates identified by the Danish Asthma and Allergy Association as the most likely to cause allergic reactions — MMA, HEMA and DIHEMA — are not present in any of our products. We have made sure of this to help reduce that risk. Our customers’ safety is always our priority — from production to the use of our products.

Our guidance hub has been created in collaboration with trained nail technicians to help guide our customers in at-home use. We provide clear information about ingredients, application and risks – on our labels, in the materials enclosed with every order and throughout all content in our guidance hub – specifically to reduce the likelihood of allergic reactions.

At Nailster, we take our responsibility seriously – both to our customers and to the industry we are part of. That is why we have established a close and trusted partnership with Bureau Veritas, one of the world’s leading companies in the inspection, classification, consulting, and certification of chemical products and processes.
Together with Bureau Veritas, we ensure that our products comply with all applicable legal requirements and safety standards. Bureau Veritas provides us with ongoing guidance on regulatory requirements, documentation assessment, and correct labelling. They also assist with expert assessment of the ingredients used in our products.
Nailster’s products and ingredients are registered and monitored by Bureau Veritas in accordance with EU legislation, including the Cosmetics Regulation. This ensures full traceability and transparency, so our customers can feel confident in the products they use.
We are continuously working to strengthen our quality control and documentation, and we have a clear ambition to expand the partnership to include specific testing procedures in the future.
The close partnership with Bureau Veritas is an important part of our promise to deliver high-quality gel products with a focus on safety, transparency, and regulatory compliance. For us, it is not just about beautiful nails – it is about offering beauty with care and responsibility.
In recent years, the EU has tightened legislation on acrylates in cosmetic products for at-home use — a change we support and welcome, so that our products can be used with confidence by everyone. The EU continuously assesses risks and has chosen to restrict only certain acrylates (e.g. HEMA). The acrylates we use are fully permitted under EU law and considered safe when used correctly.
At Nailster, like others in the industry, we encourage consumers to choose products that are manufactured and sold within the EU, where the regulation and control of ingredients — including acrylates — are extensive and designed to protect consumer safety. At the same time, we are concerned that highly allergenic products remain easily accessible via non-EU platforms, where applicable EU rules on ingredients and labelling are not always followed. We therefore hope to see stricter measures introduced to prevent the sale of such products to EU member states, as they make it more difficult to achieve a genuine reduction in the number of allergy cases.
As of September 1, 2025, 20 new substances were added to the list of prohibited ingredients. One of these substances is TPO (Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide), which has been used by some nail brands. At Nailster, we only sell products intended for private use. That is why we began phasing out TPO from all our products in 2022, and today we are already TPO-free, so you can continue using our products with complete peace of mind.

A proper curing process is essential to prevent small uncured molecules from remaining in the product. We design both our gel products and UV lamps to work perfectly together. This ensures complete curing and reduces the risk of allergic reactions.
