What is a Glazed Stick?
A Glazed Stick is a finely milled powder that is pressed into the lid of a small pen. When you twist the pen closed, the soft sponge applicator picks up the powder. You then rub the powder directly onto a cured No Wipe Top Coat to create a beautiful metallic or glazed finish.
What is the difference between a Glazed Stick and Pearl Powder?
The difference is mainly in the application and format. Pearl Powder is a loose powder in a small jar, which you apply with a separate applicator or a small brush. A Glazed Stick has the powder built into the lid, helping you avoid loose powder and spills. Both products create a beautiful shine, but the stick is often quicker and more convenient to work with.
How to create glazed nails with a stick
To achieve a good result and an even finish, use a No Wipe Top Coat as the base for the powder. The powder adheres best when your Top Coat has just been cured and is still warm.
- Prepare your nail as usual and apply your chosen Gel Polish colour. Cure the colour in the lamp.
- Apply a layer of No Wipe Top Coat and cure it in your UV lamp for the recommended time. Rub on the powder while the surface is still warm.
- Rub your Glazed Stick over the nail using gentle, circular motions until the surface is covered and you achieve an even, mirror-like finish.
- Gently brush away excess powder with a soft dust brush.
- Finish with another layer of No Wipe Top Coat to seal the effect, and cure for 60 seconds in the lamp. Remember to seal the tip of the nail thoroughly.
Which Glazed Stick colour should I choose?
The colour of your Glazed Stick changes depending on which Gel Polish colour you apply underneath. You can create many different designs with the same stick simply by changing your base colour.
- Temptation gives a warm, reddish-golden shine. It looks beautiful over dark colours, where it creates depth, or over lighter shades for a warm undertone.
- Moonlit has a cool, silvery mother-of-pearl effect. It is ideal over white or milky white shades to create classic glazed donut nails.
- Hypnotic gives a deep effect with greenish or bluish reflections. It works especially well over dark and black colours.
- Afterglow adds a soft, warm pink and peach-toned shine. It is perfect over pink and nude shades for a natural look.
Do I need to use a specific Gel Polish colour underneath?
No, you can use any Gel Polish colour under your Glazed Sticks. If you want an intense, metallic effect, a dark or black base colour is a good choice. If you want a more subtle, mother-of-pearl and natural look, choose a light, nude or milky base colour.
