Extension & Reinforcement

Nail extension and reinforcement

Here you’ll find products to help you create longer nails or add an extra layer to the natural nail for added stability. This category brings together Builder Gel, Polygel, nail extension, nail reinforcement and false nails, making it easy to find the right products for your method.

Extension or reinforcement?

What’s the difference?

With reinforcement, you apply a layer of Builder Gel over your own nail without making it longer. This gives thin or soft nails more stability. With extension, you build the nail longer than the natural nail – using nail forms, Dual Forms or Nail Tips.

What is Builder Gel?

Builder Gel is thicker than Gel Polish and is used to build structure and create an even shape. Liquid Builder Gel comes in a bottle with a brush and is easy to apply for reinforcement. Builder Gel in a pot is firmer and suitable when you want to build length. Both types are cured in a UV/LED lamp.

How does Polygel differ from Builder Gel?

Polygel has a firm, mouldable consistency that does not run before it is cured in the lamp. You shape it with a brush and a little Slip Solution, giving you plenty of time to work with the shape. The terms Polygel and Acrylic Gel are often used for the same or similar products, but naming can vary between brands. We therefore recommend checking the product description for each individual product.

What about false nails?

False nails and press-on nails are a quick way to add length without building up the nail with gel. They are applied with nail glue and can be removed when needed.

Get started

What do I need for nail extensions at home?

You need Builder Gel or Polygel, nail forms, Dual Forms or Nail Tips, a brush, a nail file and a UV/LED lamp. Start by preparing the natural nail and applying a Base Coat, then finish with a Top Coat. If you want everything in one go, a starter kit is the easiest way to get started.
