Essential tools for applying gel nails

The foundation for a beautiful, long-lasting result starts with the right preparation and the right products. Here is an overview of the tools and products that are important for gel nail application.

What essential tools and products do you need to apply gel nails?

To apply Gel Polish or Builder Gel, you need a range of products that help your nails last longer. Our Starter Kits often include many of the essentials, but you can also purchase the products individually:

  • Primer: Prepares the natural nail and provides better adhesion.
  • Dehydrator (PH-Bond): Removes moisture and oils from the nail plate.
  • Base Coat: The first layer of gel that bonds to the natural nail.
  • Gel Polish colours: The coloured gel layer you choose for your design.
  • Top Coat: Seals the colour and gives a beautiful, glossy finish, such as Top Coat - No Wipe Shine.
  • UV/LED lamp: Used to cure each layer of gel for a long-lasting result.
  • Nail files and buffers: Used to shape the nail and prepare the surface.
  • Brushes: Different brushes are used to apply and shape gel products.
  • Pads and Cleanser: Used to clean the nail and remove oils.

How to remove gel products

When you want to change your look or remove your gel nails, it’s important to do it gently. Here you’ll find the tools and products needed for effective and safe removal of both Gel Polish and Builder Gel.

What tools and products do I need to remove Gel Polish or Builder Gel?

Removing gel products requires specific tools depending on whether you are removing Gel Polish or Builder Gel:

  • Gel Remover: A liquid such as our Gel Remover 570ml, which dissolves Gel Polish so you can remove it easily.
  • Soak-off remover wraps: These practical wraps keep Gel Remover in place so the product can work effectively.
  • Nail files: Used to file off Top Coat before using Gel Remover, or to file down Builder Gel.
  • Magic Remover: An alternative type of remover that often works quickly.
  • Electric nail file, bits and sanding bands: These are especially effective for removing Builder Gel or Liquid Builder Gel, as they gently file the product down from the nail.
