Removal Kits for Gel Polish

Want to remove your Gel Polish at home? Here you’ll find kits designed to make Gel Polish removal easy and gentle, without having to buy all the products separately.

Our removal kits include the essential tools and products you need, so you can easily switch up your look.

What do you need to remove Gel Polish at home?

When removing Gel Polish at home, it’s important to have the right products and tools. This helps make the process gentler on your nails. You will need:

  • A file to remove Top Coat and any thicker gel products.
  • Gel Remover, a special liquid designed to dissolve Gel Polish.
  • Remover Wraps or foils to keep the Gel Remover in place on the nail.
  • A cuticle pusher to gently remove the dissolved Gel Polish.
  • A Buffer to even out the nail surface and prepare it for a new layer or nail care.

What is the difference between Removal Kit Premium and Removal Kit Basic?

At Nailster, you’ll find two different removal kits designed for different needs. Both kits contain the essential products you need to remove Gel Polish.

  • Removal Kit Basic: This kit contains the key products you need to remove Gel Polish manually. You get Gel Remover, foils, a file, Buffer, and a cuticle pusher. It’s a great choice if you are new to removal or prefer a manual process.
  • Removal Kit Premium: This kit contains all the products from the Basic kit, but also includes an electric nail file. The electric nail file makes the process of removing Gel Polish faster and more efficient, especially if you are working with multiple layers or thicker products such as Builder Gel. It’s a popular choice if you remove Gel Polish often.

How to remove Gel Polish gently

It’s important to remove Gel Polish correctly to protect the natural nail. Follow these steps for gentle removal:

  • File off the Top Coat: Start by gently filing off the Top Coat with a file. You only need to file off the top shiny layer until the surface is matte. Be careful not to file down into the Gel Polish colour or your natural nail.
  • Apply Gel Remover: Place a lint-free pad or a Remover Wrap soaked with Gel Remover directly onto the nail. Wrap the foil or clip tightly around the nail, so the liquid is held close to the nail.
  • Leave it to work: Leave the Gel Remover to work. The exact soak-off time may vary, but it is typically 10-15 minutes. Check one nail after 10 minutes to see whether the Gel Polish has started to loosen.
  • Gently push it off: Once the Gel Polish has dissolved and started to loosen, you can gently push it off with a cuticle pusher. Always push towards the tip of the nail and be gentle. If the Gel Polish does not come off easily, leave it to work a little longer with a new application of Gel Remover.
  • Buff and nourish: After removal, you can use a Buffer to even out the nail surface. Finish with nail oil and hand cream to moisturise and care for your nails and cuticles.

How long does it take to remove Gel Polish?

The time it takes to remove Gel Polish depends on several factors. The manual process with Gel Remover and foils typically takes around 20-30 minutes for both hands, including preparation, soak-off time, and the final removal.

The soak-off time for the Gel Remover itself is usually 10-15 minutes. If you have many layers or thicker products, it may take longer. If you use a removal kit with an electric nail file, the process can be faster. The electric file can effectively remove Top Coat and even most of the Gel Polish, helping to shorten the soak-off time for the Gel Remover or allowing you to avoid it altogether, depending on your technique.
