Make your electric nail file more effective with sanding bands
Sanding bands are replaceable abrasive bands designed to help you file nails effectively and precisely with your electric nail file. Simply place them on a Mandrel Bit, and they can be used for a wide range of tasks – from removing Gel Polish to shaping and smoothing the nail surface.
On this page, you’ll find sanding bands in different grits for both nail care and foot care, so you can choose the right option for your needs.
What are sanding bands?
A sanding band is a cylindrical abrasive band used with an electric nail file. The band is made of sandpaper in different levels of coarseness (grit), and you place it on a metal holder called a Mandrel Bit.
When you use your electric nail file, the Mandrel Bit rotates, allowing the sanding band to gently and effectively remove material from the nail. Sanding bands are single-use. Replace them after each client or treatment to maintain good hygiene and optimal filing performance.
How to attach a sanding band to a Mandrel Bit
You can easily attach a sanding band to your Mandrel Bit. Follow these steps:
Start by making sure your electric nail file is turned off and unplugged.
Hold your Mandrel Bit, which is the metal rod used to hold the sanding band.
Carefully slide a new sanding band onto the Mandrel Bit. The band should sit securely and firmly, without being too tight or too loose.
Once the sanding band is correctly positioned, you’re ready to insert the Mandrel Bit into your electric nail file and begin working.
Remember that each sanding band is single-use. Dispose of it after use and switch to a new one for the next treatment.
Choose the right grit for your sanding bands
Grit indicates how coarse an abrasive band is. The lower the grit number, the coarser the band, and the more material it removes. Here, you’ll find sanding bands in grit 80, 120, 180 and 240. Here is a guide to help you choose the right grit:
Grit 80: This is our coarsest sanding band. It is suitable for removing thicker layers of Builder Gel or Polygel and for shortening the nail effectively. Always use this grit with caution and avoid contact with the natural nail.
Grit 120: A medium-coarse grit that is ideal for shaping Gel Polish, Builder Gel or Polygel once you have removed most of the product. It is also suitable for evening out the surface and preparing the nail for a new layer.
Grit 180: This finer grit is suitable for smoothing the nail surface, removing unevenness and preparing the nail for an even application of your next product. It is gentler than the coarser grits.
Grit 240: Our finest grit. It is used to polish and smooth the nail surface, leaving a smooth finish. It is also suitable for careful preparation of the natural nail, as long as you work with a light hand.
Sanding bands and sanding discs for foot care
We also offer sanding bands and sanding discs that are specially designed for foot care. These are effective for removing hard skin and improving the texture of the skin on the feet.
You’ll find them in different grits, typically grit 80 and 120, which are suitable for working on tougher areas of hard skin. Just like our regular sanding bands, they are attached to a special Mandrel Bit or a Shaping Bit designed for foot care. It is important to use them with caution and avoid filing too deeply, especially if you have sensitive skin.
