What is reflective gel polish?
Reflective Gel Polish is a unique gel-based product that looks like a classic glitter gel polish under normal indoor lighting. However, when direct light hits the surface, the reflective particles activate. This creates an intense sparkle that is particularly visible under bright lights, camera flashes, or sunlight.
What is the difference between reflective gel and standard glitter gel?
While standard glitter gel polish reflects light in a classic, subtle way, reflective formulas contain micro-glitter designed to bounce light back directly to its source. Under normal lighting, they look like a classic glitter polish, but under bright light or a phone flash, they light up with an intense reflective sparkle.
What is the difference between reflective gel and cat-eye gel polish?
Cat-eye gel polish contains magnetic particles that you shape with a magnet before curing to create a velvet-like line on the nail. Reflective gel does not require a magnet. The glitter particles are distributed evenly throughout the polish and react automatically when light hits them.
How to get the best results with reflective gel nails
To get the most out of your reflective gel nails, proper preparation and application are key. Since these are gel products, you need a UV or LED lamp to cure each layer so the polish hardens correctly.
How do you apply reflective gel polish at home?
Applying reflective gel colours at home is simple when you follow these steps:
- Prepare your natural nails by pushing back the cuticles, shaping the edges with a nail file, and buffing the surface gently.
- Cleanse the nail plate to remove any dust or oil.
- Apply a thin layer of Base Coat and cure it for 60 seconds in an LED lamp.
- Apply your chosen reflective Gel Polish in a thin layer and cure for 60 seconds. You can apply 2 layers for deeper colour and more glitter coverage.
- Apply a Top Coat, such as our Top Coat No Wipe Shine, and cure for 60 seconds to protect the colour and lock in the sparkle.
Do you need a UV or LED lamp to cure reflective gel?
Yes. Like all our Gel Polish products, reflective formulas will not dry on their own. You must cure each layer under a UV or LED lamp. We recommend curing each layer for 60 seconds in an LED lamp to ensure the product is fully cured and long-lasting.
How do you make reflective glitter nails shine the brightest?
Your reflective glitter nails will always have a beautiful sparkle, but you can maximise the effect by using a high-gloss top coat, such as our Top Coat No Wipe Shine. To see the full reflective effect at its most intense, look at your nails under direct light, like sunlight, strong indoor spotlights, or by taking a video with your phone flash turned on.
