Nail cleanser
A nail cleanser is a useful product when working with Gel Polish and other gel products. Use cleanser to remove oil and residue from the natural nail before applying Base Coat, and to remove the tacky layer that forms after curing your gel products.
Here you’ll find a cleanser that helps you achieve a beautiful, long-lasting result.
How to use nail cleanser
Cleanser has two important functions in your gel routine. Both help create a clean, even surface for your gel products.
Cleaning and preparation before Gel Polish
Before applying your Base Coat, it’s important that the nail is completely clean and dry. A cleanser removes oil and residue from the nail plate, helping your Gel Polish adhere better. This helps prevent the product from lifting too soon.
How to do it:
- Prepare the nails by pushing back the cuticles and filing the nail into shape.
- Apply a small amount of cleanser to a lint-free pad.
- Gently wipe the nail plate to remove oil and residue. Let the nail air-dry for a moment.
Removing the tacky layer after curing
When you cure gel products such as Base Coat, Gel Polish, and Top Coat in a UV lamp, a tacky layer will often remain on the surface. This is also known as the inhibition layer. It is a natural part of the curing process and should be removed unless you are using a Top Coat without a tacky layer.
How to do it:
- Apply a small amount of cleanser to a clean, lint-free pad after curing your Top Coat.
- Gently wipe the nail to remove the tacky layer.
- Your nails will now have a glossy, smooth finish.
Which wipes and pads should you use with nail cleanser?
You should use lint-free pads with your cleanser. Regular cotton pads or cotton wool can leave small fibres on the nail, which may get stuck in the gel product and ruin the finish. Lint-Free Pads Cotton, which you can also find here at Nailster, are designed to give a completely clean, lint-free result.
Why is a good cleanser important?
A good cleanser helps your gel products adhere properly and last longer. It helps create a clean surface so your Gel Polish can bond effectively to the nail. The result is a more durable Gel Polish that looks beautiful from start to finish.
The difference between cleanser and Gel Remover
It’s important not to confuse cleanser with Gel Remover. Cleanser is used to clean the nail, remove oil and residue, and remove the tacky layer after curing. Gel Remover, on the other hand, is used to dissolve and remove your Gel Polish colours and other gel products from the nail when you want to change your look.
