How to Remove Gel Polish with Magic Remover

Step by step guide

In this guide, we'll show you how to remove your Gel Polish with our Nailster Magic Remover.

Step by Step

  • 1. File off your Top Coat

    1. File off your Top Coat

The first thing you need to do when you start removing your Gel Polish is file off the top layer. At a minimum, you should file through your Top Coat – this allows our Magic Remover to penetrate your Gel Polish and dissolve the product. However, it’s important that you don’t file through all of the product and reach your natural nail.

You can either use a hand file with 100/180 grit or our electric nail file with a Mandrel Bit and a Sanding Band with 100-180 grit, depending on what you prefer. Just make sure you only file in one direction and avoid filing back and forth.

A good rule of thumb is: The more product you file off, the less time our Magic Remover needs to work. But be careful not to file all the way through your Base Coat and reach your natural nail! Take your time, and feel free to take short breaks along the way to check how much of your Gel Polish you’ve removed. It’s better to be a little too careful than too eager!

  • 2. Apply Magic Remover

    2. Apply Magic Remover

After removing the top layer of your Gel Polish, you can apply our Magic Remover to the product left on your nail. It is important that Magic Remover does not come into direct contact with your natural nail — it should be applied on top of the product still on your nail. It is also important to avoid getting Magic Remover on the skin around your nail. It is better to leave a millimetre of space between Magic Remover and the skin around your nail than to accidentally get it on the skin.

The consistency of our Magic Remover is thick and lumpy, and that is completely intentional! The unique formula makes it easier to apply a thick layer without it sliding around on the nail.

  • 3. Wait 10 minutes

    3. Wait 10 minutes

After applying Magic Remover, leave it on for 10 minutes. During this time, you will be able to see the product bubble and lift away from the nail. You may also feel a slight tightening sensation in the nail. This is completely normal and happens because the product contracts on the nail’s surface. This will not damage your natural nail.

  • 4. Gently push off your Gel Polish

    4. Gently push off your Gel Polish

After waiting 10 minutes, or until you can see that your Gel Polish has lifted away from the nail, you can gently push the product off using an orangewood stick or our cuticle pusher. It is important that you do not press hard on the nail plate. Instead, make sure your Gel Polish has loosened enough to be removed easily with gentle movements. Be gentle with your nails so they can continue to grow long and beautiful!

Once you have removed all the loosened product from the nail, dampen a Lint-Free Pad with Cleanser and clean your nails.

Once you have pushed off the loosened Gel Polish, there may still be small traces of product left on the nail. You can easily remove these by gently buffing your nail with our buffer. After buffing, take another Lint-Free Pad soaked in Cleanser and wipe the nail clean.

You'll be left with a beautifully smooth and clean nail plate – ready for your next product or to shine as beautiful natural nails.

Wash your hands thoroughly, then apply nail oil. Massage it into your cuticles and under your nails for optimal care.

Nail oil gives your nails the nourishment they need to stay strong and healthy. It helps prevent dryness, supports healthy growth, and keeps your cuticles soft and well cared for – so your hands always look beautiful and well-groomed.

Guide

Why is my Magic Remover clumpy?

It’s completely normal for your Magic Remover to have a clumpy texture – in fact, that’s exactly how it’s meant to be! The thick texture makes it easier to apply the remover precisely to the nail without it running onto the cuticles.

Remember that Magic Remover must not come into contact with skin. Always use it with care.

Why is my Magic Remover yellow?

No need to worry! The yellow color is completely normal and is simply due to the product’s formula.

Note: Magic Remover must never come into direct contact with skin. After opening, the product may turn slightly yellow due to a reaction with oxygen – this does not affect how well it works.
