What is a curated Gel Polish set?
A curated Gel Polish set is a pre-selected bundle of Gel Polish colours designed to help you recreate a specific look. Instead of searching for matching shades yourself, we have done the work for you. These sets ensure that the background colour, petal shades and details complement each other well.
Why choose a curated look bundle over individual polishes?
Buying a curated bundle makes it easy to get started because you do not have to guess which colours look good together. It is often more cost-effective than buying individual bottles. You get a cohesive colour palette that you can use for flower nail designs, but also as individual colours for a classic single-colour manicure.
How to paint flowers on gel nails at home
Painting floral patterns is straightforward when you know how. With the right tools and a bit of patience, you can paint neat blossoms on your gel base.
- Prepare your natural nails by shaping them and pushing back your cuticles.
- Apply a thin layer of Base Coat and cure it for 60 seconds in your UV/LED lamp.
- Apply 2 layers of your chosen background Gel Polish, curing each layer for 60 seconds.
- Use a dotting tool or a fine Nail Art brush to paint your floral pattern.
- Cure your flower design for 60 seconds in the lamp.
- Seal your artwork with a layer of Top Coat and cure it for 60 seconds to secure a glossy finish.
What tools do you need to paint flowers?
The most important tool for simple flower designs is a dotting tool. It lets you make uniform dots that easily form petals. For more detailed floral Nail Art, a thin liner brush is excellent. A liner brush helps you paint delicate leaves, thin stems and fine lines with high precision.
How do you paint an easy daisy design?
To paint a simple daisy, start by placing a yellow dot in the centre of your nail using a dotting tool. Wipe your tool clean, then place 5 or 6 white dots around the yellow centre so they touch it slightly. You can leave them as round dots for a modern retro look, or use a fine liner brush to drag the dots slightly outwards to create elongated petals. Cure the design in your LED lamp before applying your Top Coat.
Different styles of floral gel nails
Floral Nail Art is incredibly versatile and can be customized to suit any mood or season. You do not have to limit yourself to one style.
- French tip flowers. Add tiny blossoms along the smile line of a classic French manicure for a delicate look.
- 3D flower designs. Use thicker Builder Gel to create textured, raised petals that stand out.
- Dotted flower patterns. Create quick and playful retro daisies using only a dotting tool in contrasting colours.
- Negative space designs. Paint dainty flowers directly on a sheer Base Coat or milky base for a minimalist look.
Can floral nail designs be worn in autumn and winter?
Yes, flower designs are not just for spring nail art. While pastel tones and bright pinks are ideal for spring and summer, you can easily adapt the look for colder months. Try using deep colours like chocolate brown, forest green, burnt orange or burgundy as your background, and paint cream or mustard-coloured petals on top for a cosy, autumnal floral look.
Why are my gel flowers wrinkling after curing?
If your Gel Polish wrinkles in the lamp, it is usually because the layer was too thick. Highly pigmented colours need to be applied in very thin layers so the UV light can penetrate all the way through the gel. If the top cures but the gel underneath remains wet, the surface wrinkles. Always wipe excess product off your brush or dotting tool before painting your details.
